What are Play Boosters?
Play Boosters are suitable for both the player of limited Magic such as booster draft and sealed deck as well as the avid collector who likes to open booster packs.

Previously, you had the choice between draft, set, or collector boosters to collect your new cards. Collector boosters remain unchanged and are still the go-to booster for special foils, special borders, and exclusives. Draft and set boosters have been replaced by play boosters. Play boosters are specifically designed with booster draft and sealed deck in mind, but ripping boosters remains exciting until the last card thanks to the increased chance of showcase cards and rares or mythic rares!

Composition Play Booster
A play booster contains 14 Magic: the Gathering cards from Foundations. The composition of a play booster looks like this:

- 1 to 4 rares or mythic rares.
- 3 to 5 commons.
- 6 to 9 uncommons.
- 1 land card.
- Always one foil card.
- 1 art card, token or advertising card.

In a play booster you always get at least one rare and always one foil card. Furthermore, in one out of seven boosters you will find not a rare but a mythic rare! In some boosters the common is replaced by a rare Special Guest card. In addition, play boosters contain two wildcard slots, one foil and one non-foil. Cards in the wildcard slot can have any rarity, from common to mythic rare.

Foundations Special Guests
Special guests are special reprints of powerful cards with brand new borderless art. In every booster you have the chance to find a special guest card. These reprints are powerful wanted cards or the cards fit thematically perfect with the set they are in.
